Pizza dans le ciel: a shoot-’em-up for mobile
A slice of pizza against flying food, in a vertically scrolling shoot-’em-up that runs at 60 frames per second on iPhone. It is in testing before its release.
Pizza dans le ciel, in a few words
You play a slice of pizza determined not to let the pineapple take over. The game scrolls vertically: you shoot at waves of flying pineapples and sweetcorn, you earn a currency by playing, and you spend it on permanent upgrades. Each world has its illustrated map, such as the Aqueduct, with its stages.
Pizza dans le ciel: what I built
The engine, the levels, the economy (a currency earned by playing, packs, permanent upgrades) and the in-app purchases: everything is built end to end, in a single file of about 9,000 lines.
60 frames per second
The game holds 60 frames per second, measured on an iPhone 12 Pro. At that rate, shots and movements stay smooth under your finger, even when the screen fills up. I made it alone: the engine, the levels and the economy go through the same hands, as with a client’s website or app.
What it shows, and what it does not
It is a project of my own, not a commission: it shows my way of building a complete app, from the first idea to sending it to the stores. It does not replace a client project.
A game, or an app?
Two lines are enough, even if it is still vague.
